Inside the minds of the Body-Improvements team

Posted: July 9, 2008 in Random Blurbs

To be honest, we’re not exactly sure what we’ll be discussing here. Everyone blogs nowadays and we didn’t want to appear too antiquated. It would be wise to expect a wide array of topics to be discussed. We’re without a doubt excited to share our knowledge (and more-so our opinions!) with our readers.

A simple introduction would be a logical start I suppose. Body-Improvements is a multifaceted fitness consulting company. We are in the business predominantly of helping our clients reach their health, fitness and physique goals. We reach our clients via a number of mediums, predominantly the Internet and local gym setting. Our services include online personal training, in-person personal training and corporate fitness. The clientele of Body-Improvements is diverse consisting predominantly of overweight individuals looking to “shape up.” It is secondarily comprised of athletes.

The trainers “running the show” include myself, Steve Troutman, as well as Gordy Kocher. Trainers by day and best buds by night (yes, I’m married… to a woman). We really do, honest to goodness, love what we do. You can take a gander at our full bios here.

Specifically what we plan to do with this blog is to not have a plan. We don’t want time-lines, procedures, agendas or rules. This blog is our ‘oyster’ so to speak, in place to express whatever the flavor of the day happens to be filtered through our lenses.

How often do we plan on updating the blog? Who knows.

What exactly do we plan on writing about? My knee-jerk response is anything and everything.

Off the cuff, topics will include but not be limited to exercise technique demonstrations and explanations, recipes, various articles regarding fitness and nutrition, interviews, Q&As we receive from clients and contacts, as well as some motivational blurbs. If you’re ever interested in hearing what we have to say about a particular topic, have it be fitness, nutrition, religion or politics, feel free to contact us through email. We’ll try our best to answer any and all requests.

I will say that we’d like interviews to be one of the foundational blog entries. That said, there just aren’t a whole heck of a lot of ‘professionals’ worth interviewing nowadays from our perspective. Undoubtedly we will be conducting a number of interviews here with some well-known authors and coaches/trainers. We also plan on interviewing some folks you do not know; possibly clients, local dietitians and ART practitioners, etc. We know we aren’t the only opinionated people on the block and believe a great deal in sharing knowledge and experience across the board. Everyone has something positive to contribute and we plan on finding that ‘something’ in each of our interviews.

We are extremely grateful and excited to start this blog off with a bang! No, obviously not this post… I’m boring. Our next post, however, will be home to an exclusive interview with Lyle McDonald. If you don’t know who he is, don’t worry… you’ll hear a great deal about him in our next entry as we dig into the vastness that is his brain. In the meantime, if you’re interested, feel free to research the man here:

We continue to expand our website and community each day so please check us out at:

In health and happiness,

I wish you and Gordy all the success in the world in this new adventure. Your services fill a void that’s sorely lacking in the world of online training, and that’s people who pay attention and actually care about the client’s success… and not just a need to line their pockets.

Have fun and can’t wait to read more.

Thanks a ton Mal. It’s been an exciting journey so far and it’s only going to get better. I wish the website was done enough so I could share all this with everyone.

    In time. 🙂

“He has developed a reputation of halting the spread of misinformation in the various fitness communities he belongs to.”

And then some! Looking forward to the site being up and running!

  4. Hey, thanks so much for stopping by!

Steve and Gordy- I couldn’t be happier for both of you! I admire your drive and passion for creating and helping to better the lives of others. You will truly be an asset to those you come in contact with. It is impressive that the two of you have been able to create and build that which you love…I am very proud of you!

  6. Lisa R. says:

Very impressive. As someone working in the medical field, I see everyday the results of overindulgence and inactivity. Your knowledge and guidance is so needed. It’s really amazing what we can actually do (at any age), when you recognize your full potential. Best wishes to a successful endeavor.

  7. Melissa says:

Wow, I can’t wait to see what comes next. I always value your insight and expertise. Let me know when your forum is up and running 🙂

  8. Thanks very much everyone! It’s great to have the support.

Melissa: Forum will be out at best, by year end. Most likely a tad later.
